Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart is Central Florida's favorite straight politician, reports Watermark, the local news sheet for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

In the paper's latest issue, the 2010 county mayor candidate nabs third place for overall favorite local politician -- behind Orlando City Commissioners Patty Sheehan and Daisy Lynum -- and then manages to top Lynum as "greatest straight ally" in the paper's reader poll. Here's all the results.

"It is a reflection of my popularity and overall support --  without money," said Stewart, taking a jab at fellow mayoral candidate and Commissioner Bill Segal, who vastly outpaces the rest of the 2010 field in fundraising.

Stewart said she's been a very vocal proponent of the county's housing non-discrimination policy, as well as advocating for similar policies in trying to court outside companies to come to the area on the economic development front.

Plus, who can beat this picture, where half of Stewart's Pride Parade contingent this year donned wigs with her trademark hair style.

Stewart said she expects the endorsement-of-sorts to translate into some fundraising success, as many folks have stepped up to suggest they would help out after taking note of her recent poll victory.
