"There's a lot that needs to be discussed," said Commissioner Linda Stewart, who called the meeting.  "We are not going to move forard unless there is another community meeting that will show you the locations."

About 50 people, many of them advocates for homeless people, attended an informational meeting on plans for a "homeless service center" that advocates and county officials want to establish in that part of the county.

But there was very little new information about where the center might be located -- the sticking point for residents who don't want it near their backyards.

County officials, however, reassured residents that they don't plan to put it near schools or residential areas, but said they are looking for space in commercial zones between Semoran Boulevard and Alafaya Trail.

"There's a lot that needs to be discussed," said Commissioner Linda Stewart, who called the meeting. "We are not going to move forward unless there is another community meeting that will show you the locations."
